I love Reddit. It serves as a place that I spend hours on reading through articles, looking at photos, laughing at comments – you name it. If I am bored, I am on Reddit. Everyone once in a while I find something on Reddit that I really love, much like the above photo. (For those who cannot read the comment you can read it more clearly here.)
For a lot of reasons, I find this passage as inspirational. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again, complacency is awful. It’s almost like a disease and when you’ve reached a point that you’re happy at staying at, you’ve almost given up. There is always a way to make yourself stronger, better, happier, more independent, more dependent, in better shape, faster, etc. I like this wisdom from Bruce Lee because I feel like its really relevant. My favorite line is right after the man asks Bruce why he said what he said, “Because you might as well be dead. Seriously, if you always put limits on what you can do, physically or anything else, it’ll spread over into the rest of your life. “
It’s true. I fear complacency. I fear being happy with adequate. I want to succeed. I want to push myself from the limitations of what people think I can do or can’t do. I want to fight – I am a fighter. I want to be stronger, happier, healthier, smarter. I never want to fall into a world of complacency again.
So, here’s to you, Bruce Lee. Thanks for the inspiration.
